I almost didn't even work on this today, but I'm glad I did! I woke up feeling very down and tired, and ended up napping half the day away. I don't regret it, I earned it this week by doing so much on this game jam.
Anyhow, when I started off this evening I did so by just wanting to tweak a couple of the mechanics in the game, and what I thought would just take a couple minutes ended up being nearly a full design update.
Added today was a new pulsing background effect. It's very subtle at first, and takes about 12 seconds to fully cycle on or off, but as you buy SPEEDups in-game, the animation speeds up as well.
From there, I realized that the design of the game looked like crap, so I started tweaking almost the whole layout, working on typography, and unifying a lot of the text elements into the buttons. Hopefully this will make things easier to understand at a glance, in conjunction with the recent tutorial addition.
Finally, I added a game version identifier, and moved the MONOSYNTHS logo placement.
All in all, this should be a very positive improvement to the game.
